Implementation Steps:
- Conduct community engagement meetings
-Select site to be restored
-Select community members to be engaged during opuntia stricta removal
-Train members on how opuntia is removed.
- Cut the main root of opuntia stricta 2-4 inches below the earth surface with a hoe , shovel or panga.
- Use spade to scoop the cut opuntia into a wheelbarrow
-Heap opuntia stricta in one place to allow for decomposition
-Weekly monitoring of the restored site to ensure full decomposition
-Collect coordinates of the restored site
