Rehabilitation of community and private ranches

Category: Community and Livelihood Integration || Sub-Category: Community-Led FLR Initiatives || Date Added: 15-Jan-2025

Description

The introduction of the valleran technology as part of drivers of rehabilitation faced a lot of resistance from some of the communities ranches compared to semi circular commonly known as half moon technology.
The born of contention was that valleran was done by tractor hence depriving them the livelihood of engagement as opposed to semicircular bud which was manually done by communities hence source of livelihood for compensation for the work.
The second born of contention was convincing the community to allow the work to be done as their existed differences between the appointed board members standing for communities who were for valleran and those who were against them as it was a new technology. The community viewed the tractor as way of encroaching their grazing land and take over.
